Adolf Curt Schuster Violin Bow c.1920-30 – Tubbs Model

A fine Adolf Curt Schuster violin bow made in Markneukirchen c.1920-30. Silver-mounted, with a length of 745mm and heavier weight of 65.8g. The handle is stamped “ADOLF C. SCHUSTER” on the handle as well as “GERMANY” by the button.

The bow’s head is a faithful copy of James Tubb’s model. This bow shows refinement in all aspects, and features pernambuco with a lush depth in colour.

A.C. Schuster (b.1890-d.1947) belongs to the Schuster family, prominent for instrument and bow making across generations. He worked with Pfretzschner and Rau up until WW1, where unfortunately he lost an eye during this war. He returned with determinism still to set up his own shop, with the employment of many skilled bowmakers including Otto Paulus and Otto Adler. He followed many fine models of bows in silver and gold including Voirin, Tourte, and even James Tubbs like the bow seen here.

The bow is in excellent condition and presentation with no repairs. Our bow is priced very competitively, where many examples currently retail between £2800-£3600.
