This violin is looking for its first owner! This is an English violin made by James Stephenson in Somerset, 2023. Fullsize with a LOB of 354mm The violin is modelled on two classical Cremonese makers- Joseph “filius Andrea” Guarneri for the body, and Carlo Bergonzi for the scroll.

The violin has been allowed to settle and a new soundpost and adjustments have been made for it. The tone is dark with a great depth and strength. The balance is also fine-tuned for even and perfect response across the strings. As a new violin, the sound will continue to open up from something already great!

James studied Fine Art at the University of  Newcastle, before spending 4 years at the Newark School of Violin Making. Following this, he spent two years working with Roger Hansell, and this has been of important influence to his onwards making.  The cherry pegs on this violin were made during James’ time working for the Hansell workshop.
