Viola, early 1800s

A very interesting instrument from the early 1800s sized 15″/38cm, which is great for a musician who plays both the violinist/viola, and would like easy alternation.

The viola has been reduced in size at some point. Although the maker is currently anonymous (price reflective of this), there is a very likely possibility of finding out who it is- the scroll and soundholes are very distinctive for this. I believe this viola is most likely German, and there are multiple double-eagle stamps on the back’s interior.

This viola has an incredibly deep warm tone, and one that most players would consider quite surprising. Care has been given with soundpost work to let the viola resonate at its best and with correct balance across the strings.
