This is a viola made by the highly reputed English maker Colin Cross in Cheshire 1995. It’s modelled on the essential Milanese maker Giovanni Grancino, with a length of 42cm or 16 5/8″ and comfortable proportions.

Colin Cross’s work is popular amongst both players and luthiers. He graduated from the Newark School of Violin making in 1986, in a class of well-respected names all round. He’s been based in locations such as Cheshire, Deal, and now currently North Scotland.

This viola is in exceptional condition and presentation with no crack repairs. Every aspect of the setup has been recently maintained and ensured to be of highest standards for professional playing. This viola was last owned for many years by a top UK violist.

Some viola tones are quite dark, some are more tenor like – this viola has a lovely amount of everything!
