Violin Bow by Garner Wilson, England – Gold Mounted

For sale is a very nice example of a gold-mounted violin bow by Garner Wilson. Octagonal in its stick, the bow has a length of 746.5mm and a weight of 63.0mm. The bow bears the “GARNER WILSON” stamp on the handle.

Garner Wilson lived from 1944-2013. He joined the renowned W.E. Hill & Sons firm at the age of 16 as one of their last bowmakers, where he trained under William Watson and Arthur Bultitude (we have a bow of his for sale too). Lesser known is that Wilson trained one of the UK’s greatest current bow experts, Peter Oxley.

This bow features stunning golden-red pernambuco, and is done justice with a very well-shaped head. Some other aspects I like include Garner Wilson’s own signature concentric double-ring inlay, as well the Hill’s metalwork DNA present in the button.

This bow has only had one owner, who ordered it directly from Wilson. The bow is both in good condition and presentation without any damage repairs.
