This is a violin bow made by Richard Geipel, Markneukirchen, c.1920-30. Silver mounted, with a length of 741mm, and a weight of 59.9g. It’s stamped “RICH. GEIPEL” on the handle, and “Germany” on the underside.
The Geipel name in bowmaking spans for many decades in the 20th century, this example is of significantly higher quality than others in the public eye. Lovely pernambuco used and I really like the metalwork of the button.
This bow is in good condition and presentation, including a new silver lapping and thumb leather. The bow draws a sweet tone.
